Japera Parker hails from Prince George’s County, Maryland and has lived or worked in Baltimore since 2009. She began her career in journalism and public relations but quickly switched to urban education, where she spent ten years caring for students and families as a teacher and leader in Baltimore City Public Schools, Teach For America, and Urban Teachers. Realizing her passion for law, Ms. Parker enrolled at the University of Maryland Carey School of Law, where she explores her interests in intellectual property and business law among other fields. At Carey Law, Ms. Parker is the representative for her class on the Student Bar Association, a University of Maryland Carey School of Law Diversity Scholar, and member of the Black Law Student Association.
